Hiyori’s eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness, just to be met with the sight of two hazel eyes staring back at her. Dark lashes framed the eyes, with thick masculine eyebrows just above. She took notice of the scar etched across the man’s right cheek.

The man chuckled heartily, his Adams apple bobbing slightly as he did so. His gaze continued to scan over Hiyori’s features. Hunger reflected in his pupils.

Hiyori bit her tongue roughly. God, how she wanted to cuss out these disgusting men. But, she decided that it would be best to stay quiet considering what happened the last time she back-talked one of her kidnappers.

The man with the hazel eyes glanced over his broad shoulder. “Hey,” he called to behind him, “Take a look at this beauty! I think we made a good trade!”

He stepped aside, and out from behind him another male sheepishly walked up to her. He looked immensely younger than the other man, obviously around his early twenties.

What she found strange though was how similar the two males looked. They both had the same hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair, although the older one’s locks were dusted grey.

“What do ya think?” The older man asked the younger one. But the boy just shrugged and looked down at his feet.

Hiyori’s murderous blue eyes flickered over to the older man, who was pacing circles around her mumbling various dirty things under his breath as he studied each curve and edge of her body.

It was only then when she noticed the tag of his shirt was sticking up in the back. Drawn in neat handwriting were the initials ‘M.W.’

“Mark, let’s go. There could be biters around here.” Stated a man somewhere nearby by but out of Hiyori’s sight.

“Ah, so there’s three of them.” she thought.

The main kidnapper, apparently named Mark, grumbled unhappily. “Fine. Jeremy, grab the girl and load her in the back of the car. Shane, go back there with her and keep watch. Make sure she doesn’t try to escape.”

Jeremy then handed Mark a crowbar caked in debris, rust, and what looked like blood. Mark then swiftly delivered the weapon to the back of Hiyori’s head, effectively knocking her out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hiyori’s eyes opened and a throbbing headache appeared for what seemed like the thousandth time in the past few days. She gritted her teeth, and clenched her fists. Before she could register where she was, she leapt up onto her feet when she realized her ankles and wrists were no longer tied up. She grabbed the nearest object next to her, which appeared to be a can of baked beans.

Her eyes picked up the faint outline of a person’s figure a couple feet away.

A shriek pierced into the air as she jumped forward and tackled the person. Hiyori screeched as she began to beat the can against the person’s skull. The sickeningly loud smacks of the can onto the person’s head only angered her more.

In an instant, the person began to fight back by attempting to throw punches at her. It was too dark for Hiyori to even see who she was attacking, but her blood was boiling and murderous anger surged through her hands.

It seems as though she had been pushed to her limit. Not only her physical, but her emotional as well.

“I’M FUCKING TIRED OF BEING TREATED LIKE A FUCKING ANIMAL!” Hiyori screamed, her voice shaking with uncontrollable anger.

Not only anger but also pain surged like electricity through her bones. She stopped attacking the person for a second to take a glimpse at her handiwork.

With the tiny bit of light coming into the room, Hiyori could see hazel eyes, scrawny shoulders, and a face covered in blood.

Her hand holding the can slowly lowered as she heard a soft whimper. It was coming from the boy she just attacked. Then, he began sobbing.

“I-I’m so sorry…p-please don’t hit me again. I promise I won’t hurt you. Just…p-please don’t kill me.”  He cried. He sat up, his messy dirty blonde hair cascading over his bloody face.

Hiyori’s fingers detached from the can and it fell to the floor with a thump.

“Wait, why did I stop? I shouldn’t sympathize with him just because he’s crying. He’s a kidnapper!” She thought. But for some reason she just couldn’t bring herself to pick up the can again.

Her head swiveled around, but like before, it was only darkness. She could only barely see his crimson-stained face.

After he seemed to pull himself together, he sighed. “I’m…really sorry that you’re here. If I could help you escape, I would.”

Now that statement grabbed her attention. He wanted to help her?

He then wiped his face on his shirt, clearing it of blood. He ran his fingers through his hair, and his eyes locked onto hers intently. “So, I’m guessing you want me to explain why you’re here.”

Hiyori clenched her fists. “Yeah, you better start explaining shit real soon or I’ll finish the job I started earlier.”

He visibly paled, and swallowed nervously. He exhaled. “First off, what’s your name?”

She scoffed, and crossed her arms. "Hiyori."

He rolled his eyes. “Ya know you don’t have to be so difficult. I’m being nice to you right now. I could’ve kept you tied up.”

Hiyori raised her brow. “So you untied me? Why?”

“Well, if I was you I’d want someone to untie me. Nowadays people don’t see too much kindness. I thought you deserved some after all you’ve been through.” He explained.

She kept silent.

“My name’s Shane, by the way.” He then said.

Hiyori mumbled a quiet ‘ah’ in understanding. He was the boy who she saw outside earlier with the other men.

Shane then proceeded to explain to Hiyori everything which she was thankful for. He explained that Mark was his father, and the other man, Jaremy, was an old friend of Mark’s. He told her about how his father had heard how another survivalist group had captured a female (her), which was apparently very rare now. Mark’s wife had gotten bit and had to be shot a couple years ago. So Mark happily took a bag of various guns they had left over and traded it all for her.

When he was finished explaining, Shane’s serious gaze on her never wavered.

“So, do you have any questions? Don’t worry, I won’t tell my Father. I’m on your side, trust me.” He insisted.

Hiyori looked at him incredulously. “Why are you helping me? Don’t you work for your Father?”

He nodded. “Yeah, if he found out I untied you and told you all of this he would probably shoot me on the spot. But I’ve been in your situation, because I got kidnapped by a group a couple years ago. If I hadn’t escaped myself, I would’ve been killed. My Father didn’t even bother to try to save me.”

She felt a pang of sadness in her chest, but still kept a stoic face.

“I have another question.” Hiyori stated. Shane nodded. “Where are we?”

Shane glanced around him, as if he forgot where he was. “The basement of the house we live in. My Father told me to watch over you in here until you wake up.”

After that, an anxious silence settled over the room. Hiyori decided to sort her thoughts.

She definitely still didn’t completely trust Shane quite yet, but it was possible that he was her only hope left to escape. Also, it was obvious she was physically much stronger than him, so if he turned on her she’d be able to easily overpower him. So she decided to trust him, at least for now.

Then Shane coughed, and stood onto his feet. He groaned in pain from his throbbing face. His nose was definitely broken after what Hiyori did to him.

He walked over to the corner of the room and blindly grabbed around for something. A couple seconds later, he gripped the rope that was used to tie up Hiyori earlier.

“Okay, now you’re going to have to trust me now, miss. I’m going to tie you up again, and bring you to my Father because that’s what he ordered me to do. I think you’re going to stay the night here, but tomorrow I’ll try my best to help you escape. But for now, I think it’s best to just do what my Father says.” He said carefully.

Hiyori hesitantly nodded, and eventually allowed him to tie her again. She silently noted how much gentler he was when he tied her rather than the men before.

They both then stood up, and he led her up the basement stairs. He flashed her an uneasy smile and said,

“Alright, let’s go see my Father.”

OMG! I love Shane. He's so cute and (for some reason) he reminds me of Al. I dunno if its just me...  Confusion

Also, I love how you keep adding post twist. It keeps me really interested and is actually really good for a zombie fic. (Since I usually don't like them) ^^

Keep up the good work! Heart
